An ordinary quick 10 min drive from my parents house back to mine, and I saw a large raccoon running though the street, and then moments later a shooting star. Neither do I see all that often, and too see two notable events on an otherwise insignificant drive through the town, a drive that will be footnoted in my mind.
Its not that either was really overall terribly special, but nonetheless, sometimes it doesn't take much to make a moment in time, suddenly an event I will remember, rather than another drive I will soon forget.

In the house I lived at in Indiana, I would see a raccoon trying to get into my garbage pretty often.
I wish my neighbors shared your live & let live (from your salamander blog) philosophy. They trapped my neighborhood raccoon just because it ate their cat food.
